[  Why Concrete Fails / Why It Doesn't Here  ]

Concrete fails for four reasons. We never let it.

The math is on every spec sheet. Most contractors skip it to win the bid. We don't.

Skipped Step / Failure Mode

  1. Failed concrete patio with random spiderweb cracks branching across the surface, settled corner with water pooling against the house foundation, partial spalling at one edge
Slab cracks and shifts in two winters
We dig deep and pack the stone tight before any concrete gets poured
  2. Failed public sidewalk panels in front of a Pennsylvania rowhouse, one panel raised an inch higher than the next at the joint creating a tripping hazard, with random cracks and crumbling corners
    Random cracks across the surface
We score the slab on a planned grid the day after pouring, so cracks happen where you can't see them
  3. Failed concrete driveway with surface scaling and spalling across a wide section, top layer flaking off in irregular patches exposing darker aggregate underneath, salt damage residue visible
Surface flakes and pits after a few winters
We use a winter-rated concrete mix that handles freeze-thaw without falling apart
  4. Failed concrete front stoop on an older Pennsylvania brick rowhouse showing a 2-inch gap where it has heaved away from the house foundation, tilted forward with spalling tread edges and missing corner chunks
Tire marks and damage from too-soon use
We tell you when it's safe to walk on, drive on, and park on it — and we wait

Site Walk

ETA · Day 1 · quote in 48 hr

Matthew comes out, walks the property, measures, and writes up exactly what you'll get and what it costs. Written quote in your inbox within 48 hours of the visit — no ballpark numbers.

Dig & Pack the Base

ETA · Day 2–4

Before any concrete goes down, we dig out the area and build a thick stone base, packed tight. This is the step most contractors skip. It's why our slabs don't move.

[ 03 / 03 ]

Pour, Finish & Cure

ETA · Day 5–6 · 28-day cure

Concrete goes in, gets finished, and we cut the planned crack-control lines the next day. Then we wait. No furniture for a week, no cars for 28 days. Your patio is ready when it's actually ready.
